BUHARI’S GAME OF POWER SEASON 4
General Buhari is revered as the most transparent “dictator” we’ve had in the country by his followers, some see him as the savior the country needs right now while others will go for him rather than vote for Goodluck Ebele Jonathan. General Buhari’s quest for power and purported quest for change made him run over the first democratically elected government by a bloodless coup detat. His quest for change has propelled him into being a specialist in failure like the football manager called one of his contemporary who never won the champions league but basks in the euphoria of being in the race year-in-year out. Gen Buhari has been in the race for a resounding twelve years trying to tell people there is a democratic side of him that can take this country to where it should be. I know Nigerians easily forgets but I am not sure we have learnt to forgive, if democracy had continued from the era of Shagari and had the taste of life for twelve years, maybe we would be better off right now, and maybe we would not be in the need for a savior right now, who knows.

“I know Nigerians easily forgets but I am not sure we have learnt to forgive, if democracy had continued from the era of Shagari and had the taste of life for twelve years, maybe we would be better off right now, and maybe we would not be in the need for a savior right now, who knows.”

Buhari has had his chance in power to change the fortune of Nigeria yet he decided to stay on and eat the goods of upturning the peoples elected President of this country, he has been ascribed with the characteristics of trampling on people’s right and freedom, notable is his word, we have decided to deal with the Fela virus now (in my own words) whom amnesty international denounced as fabricated and politically motivated. If Abdusalam Abubarkar hadn’t been man enough to conduct an election in 1999 where would Gen Buhari want to lead democratically? I have got to know him as a man with quest and addiction for power rather than money; he has been in the game for close to a century and he still wants to come into power when nothing meaningful was achieved with his partial and full involvement in governance. To fail three times and still continue to try again and again sums up his desperation for power while I try to avoid the thought of it been a chance to lay his hands on our treasure once again and use it maximally for himself this time.
General Buhari’s time as the Governor of the North-Eastern state has never been brought to the foreground, his time as Petroleum and natural resources Minister during the Obasanjo military era has always been underplayed, knowing he was part of the cabinet that decided to hand over to a democratically elected President. No regard for press freedom, harsh policies and the likes made him the second worse dictator in the country while he worked with the worst dictator of this country as the Chairman Petroleum Trust Fund where he has was and is still praised for his transparency and also his ability to remain silent as human rights and freedom are being trampled on his watch. Real men criticized Abacha and were ably punished for standing against the dictator; permit me to say Buhari can be termed as a weakling who hated human rights and would rather work with a dictator instead of fighting for the people’s right.
One lesson I would learn depending on the outcome is that persistency is the key to winning in life, that is if he won eventually or persistency will not always make you a winner if he never became a democratically elected President, but truth be told for him to keep coming back it is either for a real change or his thirst for power once again. ANPP, CPC and now APC, what else will Buhari not do to be in the Aso rock, we could have been fooled by APC as the real change that we want but wherever the likes of Atiku and Buhari stands we should know it is not and can never be about change, it is only a game of power. One thing I am sure of is after 2015 we don’t know what we will do, if we can go Burkina Faso on our leaders maybe we can get it right but right now is the just the GAME OF POWER.
